丸括弧と角括弧

角括弧と丸括弧の違いは、少しわかりにくいかもしれません。一般に括弧は、丸括弧 ()で、ブラケットは角括弧[]を示しますが、最近では単に「丸いブラケット」や「四角いブラケット」という言葉が使われるのを耳にするようになっています。

通常角括弧 - [ ] - は、テクニカルマニュアルなど特別な目的に使われます。丸括弧 - ( ) -　または括弧は、主要な思考に関連してより詳しく説明したい時や補足、コメントを加えたいが、主要な思考とは区別したい時にコンマと同じような方法で使われます。事実、文法学者の多くは、ほぼすべての場合においてコンマを丸括弧に置き換えることができると感じています。
